Fly Fishing 101: Saturday, October 28th, 9am - 4pm

There is no substitute for focused instruction when making a start in fly-fishing. Trying to go it alone, coupled with the perceived cost of equipment and complexity of the sport, often keeps potential fly-fishers from entering and enjoying this magnificent pastime.  Whether you are completely new to fly fishing or have just been out of the game for a while this class is packed with useful information and hands on practice to help shorten the learning curve.  The 101 class covers all the basics of equipment, terminology, knot tying, rigging and fly selection.  The class finishes with on-water casting instruction, fly fishing demonstration and a brief look at the food items found in our local river.

Class size is limited to six people so you are assured a good deal of face time with the instructor. The cost is $100 and includes a $50 gift certificate!
Pre-registration is required to ensure a spot. (Equipment provided at no additional cost)

Intro to European Nymphing: Saturday, October 29th, 9am – 2pm

This class is designed to answer most of your questions with regard to Euro/tight line nymphing techniques. The class begins at the shop where you will learn about building custom leaders while discussing the principles and methodology of European nymphing tactics.  Afterwards, the group will depart to the river for several hours of on water instruction. You are encouraged to bring a 10’ 3 or 4 weight rod if you already have one. The class is $75/person and includes a 10% OFF
the purchase of any fly rod 10’ or longer. Class will begin at 9am at the shop and finish around 2pm. Class size is limited to four anglers to ensure a quality learning experience, therefore, pre-registration is required to guarantee a spot.

Tenkara Fly Fishing: Top to Bottom

Friday, December 8th from 6pm – 7:30pm at the shop

On water portion to follow Saturday, December 9th from 10am – 2pm.

There has been a lot of buzz in the fly fishing world concerning Tenkara since Danial Galhardo, founder of Tenkara USA, first introduced this traditional Japanese technique to the United States and this class is a great way to find out firsthand what it’s all about! The Friday evening portion of the class will cover the equipment, terminology, and rigging options, as well as discussing the benefits (and limitations) of this simple, yet effective means of catching fish on a fly. Saturday morning the group will meet on the river for hands on instruction. At this time of year there is a high likelihood that we will be on the water during a prolific BWO mayfly hatch! What better time to experience the joy and effectiveness of Tenkara? The class is $100/person and includes use of equipment during the class and a 10% discount on all Tenkara related purchases at the shop through December 20th. Class size is limited to four anglers to ensure a quality learning experience, therefore, pre-registration is required to guarantee a spot in the class.
