Meet The Staff
Our guides are not only friendly but are experts on the Arkansas River in Pueblo. Their home water is the Arkansas. No out of town guides here folks! Local knowledge and love for this water has made them the best you could book.
Alex grew up in the Midwest, learning to fish from this grandfather shortly after mastering the skill of walking. He cut his angling teeth in the north woods of Wisconsin where he fished for bluegill, bass, and northern pike, first with a cane pole and later with spinning gear. After moving to Colorado in 1989 to attend college, he took up fly fishing for trout and has been exploring the lakes and rivers of Colorado ever since. He joined Ark Anglers in 2008 as manager of the Pueblo store and became the owner of the Drift Fly Shop in 2011.
Cat O’Grady has been in love with fish and insects for as long as she can remember. Having completed her Bachelor degree in Environmental Biology and Chemistry, she now finds a happy home in the employment of The Drift Fly Shop. Cat has been a guide, shop attendant, and instructor in the fly fishing world for thirteen years. She is in her second year as a SAGE ELITE PRO and is an instructor at CSU-Pueblo where she teaches fly fishing. When she is not stream-side on her beloved Arkansas River Tailwater, Cat can be found with her nose in a book or a vial of insects in her hands.
As a self-taught flyfisherman, Connell has been avid about the sport for the last sixteen years. His journey on the road of fishing has taken him to small creeks, high alpine lakes, and large rivers alike. Never one to turn away from a challenge, Connell has spent quality time on many of the states toughest tail waters and has the stories and pictures to prove it. Out with his golden retriever, Winston, Connell spends most of his time fishing the tailwaters of the Arkansas River. Being a guide comes naturally to Connell. As a former successful business owner, he understands that dedication and attention to detail can make all the difference. When asked what he loves most about flyfishing he replies, “The rush of landing a big boy.” Connell is The Drift’s Head Guide and has been a SAGE ELITE PRO for the last three years.
Cody is the Drift’s most well-rounded guide in an arsenal of very experienced staff. He is our local warm water fly fishing specialist and has been picked up as a Scott Pro staff member. As a certified float fishing trip leader, Cody floats on one of the most challenging whitewater rivers in Colorado. Cody is also well-rounded in the saltwater game. While fishing for trout has always been a favorite of his(especially sighting and stalking big trout on the tailwater), Cody eagerly awaits the longer days of spring that signal it’s time to change gears and start hunting tailing carp and surface oriented bass on the “Res.” Cody’s passion for fly fishing has taken him across the globe chasing Hawaiian bonefish, silver salmon in Alaska, BC steelhead, and Christmas island triggerfish to name a few.
Rich is a Pueblo native and has been fly fishing the Pueblo Tailwater since well before the term “Pueblo Tailwater” was even coined. Rich has an infectious laugh and a sense of humor that is sure to keep you entertained, even on those days when the fish aren’t cooperating. When Rich isn’t fishing, he can be found golfing, hunting or at the vise, tying flies for his next outing.
Jordan attends CSU Pueblo and is working on a degree in Outdoor Recreation. Jordan grew up outside the Bay area and came to Colorado on a wrestling scholarship. When he isn’t busy working at the shop, training, or studying, he some how finds copious amounts of free-time to spend fishing and tying flies.
