SUP simply stands for Stand Up Paddleboard. What SUP actually means to someone really depends on whether or not they have tried it, and if so, under what conditions? For many, paddle boarding is the key to more fully exploring the watery worlds in which they love to play. For me, the instant attraction to paddle boarding came when I realized “Hey, this is the closest thing to walking on water that I have ever experienced!”
In addition to the “walking on water” sensation, paddle boarding offers great exercise, you can fish from them in many situations, they have great load capacity (think overnight trips), and inflatable SUPs are compact and very portable. Most inflatable SUPs weigh about 25 lbs and come with a backpack-style carrying bag that will hold the deflated SUP, high pressure pump and accessories. Plus, SUPs can be enjoyed by folks of nearly any age and athletic ability.
If you are curious about exploring paddle boarding, stop by the shop and I would be happy to answer any questions you have. As with any recreational product, picking the right size, shape and style SUP to meet your individual needs is critical to your enjoyment. I am also available for private lessons and can furnish all necessary equipment.
